Book Component Help

The Book component is one of the most complex components available for use in the Army Showcase. As its name implies, it allows for a mini-book to be added to a page. The Book has a table of contents and numerous pages.

Modifying the Table of Contents

When a Book Component is edited, a screen similar to the one above will be displayed. Each row is a page in the book. The names of each page can be changed as well as a new page can be added by filling out the new page textbox at the bottom. The very last drop down box is used to select the font of the book. Click the Save Book Button before performing any other options.

Each row of the table of contents, has three options. The [+] button will move the page up. The [-] button will move the page down. The [del] button will remove the page from the book. Once a page has been removed, it cannot be restored.

Editing a Page

In order to edit a page, click on either the number next to the page name or use the next/prev buttons at the top of the Book Component. Once a page has been edited something similar to the image above will be displayed.

Adding a Page Section

When a page is being edited, there is a blank form on the bottom of the page which allows for a new section to be added to the page. Enter the title of the section as well as the text for the section. If desired, an image can be added to the section as well. The drop down box at the bottom is used to determine the location of the image in relation to the text. If left is chosen then the image will be aligned to the left of the page and the text will wrap around it. If right is chosen, then the image will align to the right of the page and the text will wrap around it. If center is chosen, then the image will be displayed above the text and will be centered in the book. To add the new section, click the Save Page Button. New sections are added to the bottom of the page. If the contents of these text boxes are empty when "Save Page" is pressed, then no new section will be added to the page.

Editing an Existing Section

For each section on the page which exists when the page is edited, something similar to the image above will be displayed. The title of the section can be changed by changing the contents of the title box and the text of the section can be changed by changing the contents of the large text box. A new image can uploaded by browsing for a new image. If the image box is left empty, then the image will not be changed. Finally, the position of the image can be changed by choosing a new value from the drop down box. In order to save these changes, click the "Save Page" button at the bottom of the page.

There are also several options to modify this section. The "Move Section Up" button will move the section up one spot towards the top of the page. The "Move Section Down" button will move the section one spot towards the bottom of the page. The "Delete Section" button will remove the section from the page. Deleted Sections cannot be retrieved. The "Delete Image" button will delete the image associated with the section. If there are any unsaved changes when one of these buttons are pressed, those changes will be lost. Be sure to save all changes prior to pressing one of these buttons.
