Editing the Components in the Advanced Editor
Each component in the Army Showcase has several different editing options. This page lists the details of how each component is edited.
Aspect Image Component
Photo Book Component
Photo Gallery Component
Army List Component
Aspect Images have an extra option added to their component edit drop down box - upload image. Clicking on the upload image option opens up the dialog box shown above. Use the browse button to select an image to upload and click the upload image button. The Photo Crop Tool can be used to produce an image of the correct size. Aspect Images will be scaled without distortion to fit inside the component.
[Limit 1 per Page] The Icon tool could be the most important tool for a page to have. Icons associate a page with a game and a gives the page a small image to represent the page. The Modify Icon option is added to the bottom of the Icon's edit component drop down box. Clicking the Modify Icon option will display the dialog box shown above. A small image up to 150KB can be uploaded and a game is chosen from the game drop down box. The Photo Crop Tool can be used to create an icon of the correct size.
The Image works identical to the Aspect Image detailed above except that the image uploaded will be scaled to fill the box.
[Limit 1 per Page] The Photo Book has its own unique option in its drop down box - Modify Gallery. This opens up the dialog box shown above. New Photos can be added to the photo book by selecting a image and uploading it. Existing items appear in the list in the top portion of the dialog box. These items can be moved up, moved down, and also removed. The Photo Crop Tool can be used to create images of the correct size. This component works best when the component is almost square in shape.
The Photo Gallery functions just like the Photo Book detailed above except that the images are displayed in a different format.
Both the Headline and Textbox components work almost the same. The difference is that the Headlines have larger font and are centered. Both components have an extra option added to their edit component drop down menu: Edit Text. This option will display the dialog box shown above. This dialog box allows for the text to be edited and allows for the font of the text to be changed.
[Limit 1 per Page] The Book Component is one the most complicated components on the Army Showcase. As a result, it has its own help section here
[Limit 1 per Page] The Super Component is the most advanced component on the Army Showcase. As a result, it has its own help section here.
[Limit 1 per Page] The Comment List Component allows for members of the Army Showcase to post feedback and engage in simple discussions on pages. The "Add Comment" link will open up a dialog to add a comment. When in edit mode, every comment will have a "Kill" button next to it. Pressing this button will cause the comment to be removed from the list. Once a comment has been removed, it cannot be retrieved. As a result, use this function sparingly.
[Limit 1 per Page] To some extent, the Army List Component is the heart of the Army Showcase pages. It allows for a member to post the information about their army in an easy to read format. It has one unique option that appears in its edit component drop down box: add unit. Clicking this option will open up a dialog box which allows the addition of a unit to the list. Each unit has a name, a quantity, the point value of the unit, and a short description about the unit. Point values do not need to be numeric, but if all the point values are numeric, the total point value of the list will be calculated.
When in edit mode, the army list will resemble the image above[without the names removed] where each entry has an edit/kill options. The edit button opens a dialog to edit the unit while the kill option removes the unit from the army list.
[Limit 1 per Page] The Journal Component acts as a simple blog. Posts can be added to a day. Posts can also be edited. Each post can have a title, text, and a image. To add a post, click on the day in the calendar, then click the Add post button. To edit a post, navigate to the day and click the Edit Post button. When uploading an image, the Photo Crop Tool can be used to produce an image of the correct size. Journal posts also have a special option "Make Public". When this checkbox is checked, the post will be available to the public. If it is not checked, the post will not be available for the public to view.
The YouTube Component allows for members to embed YouTube videos in their pages of the Army Showcase. This component has an extra editing option - Change Video. When this option has been clicked, the dialog shown above will be displayed. Copy and paste the Embed code from Youtube into the dialog box exactly as it appears. If anything in the embed code is changed, the video will be rejected.
